During the beginning of FIFA Messi was quoted by the Argentina Football Association’s website saying: “I have no doubt that we are going to grow. We have time.”
“The World Cup is our dream, the dream of the country. We have good players and we are getting stronger to fight as an equal with anyone.”
Looking back to that statment, there is only one thing that is coming in every Messi fan’s mind that Lionel Messi’s dream is shattered and how.

By the recent 3-0 defeat by Croatia means Argentina’s fate in Group D is now out of their hands; they need results to go their way to stay in the competition.
There were reports during the week that Messi has been feeling so down after last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Iceland that he refused to attend a barbecue organised by Argentine staff, instead staying alone in his hotel room.
If Messi’s pre-match actions on Thursday suggested a headache, it will have got worse by seeing Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero’s howler, which led to Ante Rebic’s first goal in Nizhny Novgorod and contributed to Argentina’s heaviest World Cup group-stage defeat since 1958.
The World Cup is everything to Argentineans, it is why they have brought tens of thousands of travelling fans to Russia and why they have become the vibrant soundtrack to every city that they have occupied but that appeared to weigh on the coach, whose decision-making has melted like a candle held to the sun, and the team, whose capitulation in the dying stages of this fraught encounter made even an unlikely qualification next week nigh-on impossible.
Former Argentina forward Claudio Caniggia also said he has sympathy for Messi.
“Messi doesn’t get the same support from his team-mates as Maradona did,” he said.
“You can’t give all the responsibility to Messi. Because then what’s the point of you being there?”
Twitter was filled with different kinds of reactions seeing Messi’s defeat; here are some of the best ones.

Ronaldo can do bits with even inferior teams. But unless your side is set for Messi perfectly like in Barcelona he doesn’t shine. Ronaldo would be a star even playing for Burnley.
That is why Ronaldo >>> Messi
