Jake, a paraplegic ex-marine is brought in as a replacement for his brother on the planet Pandora, inhabited by the Na’vis, to help a corporate organization. He appears to be the only one who is able to bond with the Na’vis and he must decide where his loyalties lie as things take an ugly turn.

Directed by James Cameron, Avatar is one of the most groundbreaking, landmark movies of modern-day Hollywood. While all of you must have heard about the special effects, you must be wondering other questions. Does it have substance? How are the performances? Is the script solid?
First of all, I have to touch on the special effects. The Na’vis in this movie looks spectacular, as does the world of Pandora. At no time did it look cheesy, less than real or less than amazing for that matter. As for the characters, they were all great. I didn’t think of Sam Worthington much before the Avatar, but after having watched the movie, I think he’s fantastic.

Simply stated, Avatar is an absolute masterpiece. It doesn’t just live up to the hype; it surpasses it. My only criticism is that this movie is kind of an investment. You feel happy when he succeeds; you want him and Neytiri to grow close and develop romance – you like them and Na’vi as a whole. I don’t want to spoil this movie for you guys, but there are some moments in this movie which just tug at your heart.
This movie is ultimately a love story between Jake and Neytiri, but it also has a deeper subtext about conflict and sacrifice and what’s worth fighting and dying for. This movie is so immersive, you don’t just watch it; you live it. You find yourself rooting for the Na’vi; you want to fight and die for them.
This is a perfect example of what a movie can turn out to be if a director takes his time and doesn’t rush the movie. This movie is definitely a must watch, preferably in 3D, but if you watch in 2D, you’ll still find it to be amazingly spectacular.
