We could say it is the sequel to Marvel Iron Man 2 but it really is the sequel to the Avengers. In this film, you have Tony Stark grappling with a villain named Mandarin who is conducting consequent terrorist attacks. So he goes on a one-man mission to find the Mandarin.

Iron Man 3 is a lot of fun. Of course, Robert Downey Jr. is back in his world and you cannot imagine anyone else playing this guy. He proves it so well in this film because you get a lot of sequences where it’s Tony Stark. There isn’t as much Iron Man in the suit fighting in this movie. For the most part, Tony has to scrounge for pieces and parts to mend his suit. In the beginning, you might want to see more Iron Man but it slowly grows on you – Tony Stark trying to get his mess together. After all, he is a genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.
What’s fascinating about this film is that you get to see the more human side of the Iron Man. So when he does put on his suit, it’s all the more enthralling. That being said, the movie might disappoint some nerds as it doesn’t follow the comics and stands on its own. Except for the last half an hour or so, you don’t really get to see any big action scenes. Like we said it’s just Tony Stark being Tony Stark. But as a movie, it still is awesome.

This movie is very clever and extremely funny too. This, in fact, might be the funniest of all Iron Man movies. Alright, enough of the praise, let’s talk some hard criticisms. The major one would be that the movie takes a really slow start. Another one would be that some of the characters, which were important to the plot, seem really underdeveloped. But looking back, as a whole, the movie comes together pretty well.
As a film, structurally it holds together pretty well. There are a lot of great set pieces in this movie. It is very funny. The special effects are awesome. The score is good. The relationships between Robert Downey Jr. and other characters are very good. Don Cheadle is cooler in this movie than he was in Iron Man 2.

The henchmen or the cronies that were executing Mandarin’s plan didn’t seem very formidable or human. They were sort of devoid of personalities, functioning as mere drones. Ben Kingsley is very good in the film. Guy Pearce is really good too. Rebecca Hall’s character seems a bit underdeveloped. She is a great actress but that doesn’t really shine.
That being said, you go to an Iron Man movie to watch Robert Downey Jr. and he is brilliant. Some people may look at the movie and say there is a shortage of action sequences, but we see it as essential character development.
Overall, Iron Man 3 is a really enjoyable movie, much more enjoyable than Iron Man 2.
